In this 30-hour micro-credential, learners will explore Wound Bed Preparation, including the treatment of the cause, the “Wound Bed Preparation Paradigm,” and caring for patients using a holistic approach.

In this 30-hour micro-credential, learners will explore Wound Bed Preparation, including the treatment of the cause, the “Wound Bed Preparation Paradigm,” and caring for patients using a holistic approach. Additionally, learners will discover pain in wound care and patient-centred management, as well as the importance of activities of everyday living and the patient’s “Circle of Care.” Learners will also learn how to classify wounds by healability and wound assessment and documentation.

Upon successful completion of this micro-credential, learners should be able to:
Assess the treatment of the cause of a wound and what steps are taken to accurately care for the wound
Explore the “Wound Bed Preparation Paradigm” and caring for patients using a holistic approach
Determine which components of care that will facilitate and improve wound healing probabilities
Discuss approaches to pain assessment and treatment that are practiced within today’s healthcare system
Recognize the importance of activities of every day living and the patient’s “Circle of Care” as it relates to the wound healing process
Discuss how wounds are currently measured within the healthcare system, as well as measurement techniques
Explain the various factors that need to be considered before debriding a wound
Outline an assessment and treatment strategies for patients experiencing foot and leg ulcers
Reflect on wound assessment, treatment, and recommendations for various patients with different wound types
Examine the healing trajectory of wound care, interprofessional assessment and the patient navigation model
