Micro-credential Overview

This micro-credential is designed for individuals with little existing knowledge about Indigenous Peoples in Canada and/or who have limited direct interaction with Indigenous Peoples in their professional roles in the forest sector.

The course may also be of interest to those working outside of the forest sector as the information is broadly applicable to other sectors.

The course presents a brief introduction to First Nation, Métis and Inuit Peoples and equips learners to deliver a respectful territorial acknowledgment for their local region.

If you are a forest practitioner who requires detailed knowledge of Duty to Consult and Accommodate, we recommend you enroll in the 5-hour course entitled Respecting Aboriginal and Treaty Rights within Sustainable Forest Management course  instead of this shorter course.

Learners will receive the following Example Digital Badge and Certificate of Course Completion.
