Course Information

In this 6-hour course you will learn about approaches to sustainable development, the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy, corporate social responsibility, the triple bottom line (social, economic and environmental sustainability), the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the circular economy. 

Learners have 90 days to work through the course materials.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)  
  • Describe the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and identify actions your business can take toward implementing it
  • Discuss the purpose of the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy
  • Apply principles of sustainable development to your business
  • Differentiate between corporate social responsibility and triple bottom line
  • Describe how corporate social responsibility is linked to increased profits
  • Identify key strategies of corporate social responsibility
  • Understand the principle of Leave No One Behind
  • Identify the principles of a circular economy and apply the principles of a circular economy to your business 
  • Learn from case studies of sustainable businesses and sustainable development initiatives  
  • Identify networks and resources with which you can network and partner to take action toward being a more sustainable business.
