Overview

In this short four-hour online self-directed micro-credential, learners will explore what “ergonomic” means, the ideas of task analysis, workstation layout, and office ergonomic factors.  Learners will also discover the specifications and the need for suitable workplace setups.  Lastly, learners will become familiar with the equipment used for workstation setup, their placement zones, work and task breaks, and the adverse effects of repetitious work.

Learners who successfully complete the course will earn a digital badge and certificate of course completion that can be downloaded and shared via social media.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this micro-credential, learners should be able to:

  • Define the term "Ergonomics"

  • Explain the concepts "Task Analysis" and "Workstation Layout", and primary considerations of office ergonomics

  • Identify the requirements and needs of proper workstation setup

  • Differentiate the three zones of equipment placement, and apply the ergonomic principles to set up a computer workstation

  • Discuss the advantages of work and task breaks for computer work

  • Practice setting up a computer workstation that adheres to ergonomic principles
