Course Information

In this 6-hour course, you will learn about the basic standards and practices of parts industry merchandising and inventory practices.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Describe the parts distribution network (i.e. how parts get from manufacturer to consumer);
  • Identify the three tiers of Canadian Vehicle Parts (genuine, oem, aftermarket parts);
  • Understand the fundamentals of warehouse storage procedures and shipping/receiving procedures;
  • Identify and be aware of advantageous locations of specific items and materials in the warehouse;
  • Identify the fundamental elements of parts inventory control procedures;
  • Describe correct stocking procedures and precautions; and
  • Identify the fundamentals of parts catalogue systems
