Overview

This course is not a substitute for accredited police training and does not qualify you as a police crisis negotiator or mental health practitioner. CNIT Level Three is designed to enhance your professional development by offering insight into the leadership principles and structured approaches used by police negotiators during critical incidents.

By exploring police negotiation frameworks, team roles, and decision-making models, this program aims to deepen your understanding of crisis negotiation and intervention techniques discussed in the previous levels - particularly as you prepare for leadership responsibilities in your sector.

Whether you work in policing or are interested in a role as a crisis negotiator, work in security, mental health, education, healthcare, or any frontline role, learning from law enforcement models will help broaden your strategic thinking, improve team coordination, and strengthen your ability to lead during high-risk events.

This level includes the following modules:

  • Module 1: Mental Illness and Crisis Negotiation Strategies

  • Module 2: Critical Incident Response for Civilian and Organizational Leaders

  • Module 3: Capstone and Review

Each module draws from real-world negotiation techniques adapted from law enforcement and behavioural psychology, refined for professionals working in high-risk, emotionally volatile, or unpredictable settings

Learners who successfully complete the course will earn a digital badge and certificate of course completion that can be downloaded and shared via social media.

You will have access to the course for 90 days to work through the content at your own pace.

These techniques are especially relevant for, but are not limited to:

  • Navigate volatile situations without escalating tension or risk.

  • Influence behaviour safely and ethically, without needing positional authority.

What a fantastic addition to level one ! Monique again shares valuable insight and knowledge into the world of suicide intervention and de escalation. Well formed, easy to follow and understand and very enjoyable- even though you're dealing with some serious topics. What I would say is, after the course and gaining this knowledge, seek ways to practice your active listening skills! Learn from others in the field and if you're looking to expand on your skills, not only take level 3 but look into volunteering on a crisis hotline.
