Building Boards that Work
In this 10 hour short online micro-credential, learners will explore what a board is and why we have them, as well as the different duties, roles, and responsibilities of boards.

Take up to 90 days to complete the course
Learn at your own pace using a computer, tablet or smartphone
Receive a certificate of course completion and digital badge for successfully completing the course which can be shared on social media (e.g. LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter), downloaded as a PDF, or even embedded in an email signature
In this short online micro-credential, learners will explore what a board is and why we have them, as well as the different duties, roles, and responsibilities of boards. Learners will learn about the relationship between the board and chief executive and distinguish when a committee should be formed or when to use a task force. Lastly, learners will explore the board's role in fund development and be able to communicate leading effective board practices.
Learners who successfully complete the course will earn a digital badge and certificate of course completion that can be downloaded and shared via social media.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners should be able to:
Explain what a board is and why we have them
List the three duties, four roles, and ten responsibilities of boards
Clarify the relationship between the board and the chief executive
Distinguish when to create a committee and when to use a task force
Describe the board's role in fund development

Develop strategies and solutions to build boards that work using a variety of case scenarios
