In this micro-credential, you will learn about automotive systems, including automatic and manual transmissions.  Learners will learn about the importance of these systems and how they operate.  Learners will also explore safety features such as seat belts, airbags, and much more.

Learners who successfully complete the course will earn a digital badge and certificate of course completion that can be downloaded and shared via social media.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this short micro-credential, learners should be able to:

  • Describe automatic and manual transmissions and their importance as well as how they function

  • Explain the "transfer case" and how it works in transferring torque to the rear wheels

  • Explain the different types and functions of the drive axle, hubs and wheel bearings

  • Recognize the safety features of a vehicle, including seat belts and airbags, the modules and sensors used in an airbag system
