Overview

This is the fourth short course of a series of six short courses for our Airport Administration and Services Micro-credential Program. Each course contains three to four modules, discussions, and quizzes. 

In this micro-credential, learners will explore different sources of airport noise, how to handle noise complaints, and various noise reduction techniques. The micro-credential further delves into airport activities that impact environmental areas and provides insights into conducting environmental audits. Additionally, learners will acquire knowledge about fuel management, aircraft fuelling safety practices, and protocols for addressing fuel spills, providing a comprehensive understanding of crucial aspects of airport operations.

Learners who successfully complete the course will earn a digital badge and certificate of course completion that can be downloaded and shared via social media. 

You will have access to the course for 90 days to work through the content.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • 1. Identify different sources of airport noise and how to handle noise complaints.

  • 2. Examine different noise reduction techniques.

  • 3. Discuss components of an airport environmental program, including stormwater management, hazardous material handling, waste management, and procedures for responding to environmental emergencies.

  • 4. Illustrate the process of conducting an environmental audit. Differentiate between types of aviation fuels and explain various dispensing systems, illustrating their roles in airport fuel management.

  • 5. Explain safety practices in aircraft fuelling and reflect on protocols for addressing fuel spills
