Overview

In this short online self-directed course, learners will explore how to make Ontario accessible by learning about Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.  Learners will discover the programs and services included in this Act, and how to provide quality accessible customer service within businesses. Learners will also discover the various service animals available to support individuals with disabilities and how they are used to support accommodations.  Lastly, learners will discuss and reflect on accessibility within their own communities and workplace settings, and describe strategies and solutions that can increase accessibility within organizations.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this micro-credential, learners should be able to:

  • Define Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act

  • Identify the services and programs included in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act

  • Discuss the barriers that are often present within inaccessible organizations

  • Discuss how to increase accessibility within communities and workplace environments

  • Reflect on interactions, accommodations, and encounters with service animals and how to improve these experiences
