Overview

This course equips learners with the knowledge and skills to design accessible and ethical eLearning courses. Topics covered include educational accessibility, copyright, ethics, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, and academic integrity in online education. Participants will understand the importance and benefits of these concepts in eLearning design, overcome integration challenges, and apply relevant guidelines such as AODA, WCAG, UDL, and copyright laws. They will also gain proficiency in using assistive technology and adapting open educational resources. Additionally, learners will develop a strong sense of professionalism and ethics as e-learning designers.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Define and explain the concepts of educational accessibility, copyright, ethics, intellectual property, and academic integrity in the context of education.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of assistive technology and its role in promoting accessibility, including the application of common accessibility features and checkers in Google and Microsoft.

  • Identify common barriers and challenges in integrating accessibility, copyright, and ethics into eLearning design and develop strategies to overcome them.

  • Describe the importance, benefits, and implications of educational accessibility, copyright, artificial intelligence, academic integrity, and ethics in eLearning design and online learning environments.

  • Apply the principles and guidelines of AODA, WCAG, UDL, Copyright, Assistive Technology and Creative Commons licensing to create accessible web content and evaluate its conformance.

  • Adapt open educational resources (OER) based on specific criteria and understand the proper attribution and citation practices for both Copyright and Creative Commons licensing.

  • Describe how all these outcomes contribute to overall professionalism and ethics as an e-learning designer.
